Your policy, inside the system and on sale in your checkout
You register your event's insurance β insurer, policy number, cover and documents β and choose which events it applies to. If you want, buyers see the option to take out cancellation cover as they pay, at the price you set. Your insurer covers it. We put it where the purchase decision happens.
The insurance exists, but it lives outside the place the ticket is sold.
With the policy in a drawer
- The paperwork is in an email from eight months ago
- The buyer has no idea they could insure their ticket
- If someone wants cover, you send them off to another site
- Nobody knows how many tickets for the event are insured
- At claim time, matching ticket to policy is done by hand
With insurance built in
- The policy and its PDFs live next to the event they cover
- The option appears at checkout, where the buyer is already deciding
- It is taken out in the same payment, no detour and no re-entering a card
- You know how many tickets carry cover and what you collected for it
- Every order records whether it was taken out and for how much
From policy to checkout, without leaving the event
Register the policy
Insurer, policy number, description of cover and the PDFs of the terms. All stored next to the event, not in somebody's inbox.
Cancellation, liability or other
Each policy is classified by type. Venue liability and attendee cancellation are different things and are handled as such.
Applies to the events you choose
One policy can cover a single event, a tour or a whole season. You select which ones, and it stops being unclear what covers what.
Offer it to buyers, or not
One switch decides whether the option to insure a ticket appears at the checkout of those events. And you set the price.
Taken out in the same payment
Whoever wants it adds it as they pay. The order records that it was taken out and the amount charged, so the data sits where it belongs.
Draft, review and active
The policy goes through review before it is active. Nothing is offered to the public until the paperwork is where it should be.
What ticket cancellation cover usually includes
Health and family
Serious illness, accident or death of the buyer, a close relative or their pet. Also surgery, pregnancy complications requiring bed rest, a transplant, or the adoption of a child.
Official summons
Being called to court as a witness, party or juror; a summons from an official body; sitting on an electoral board; taking an official exam, or being awarded a scholarship that prevents attendance.
Work and home
Termination of employment by dismissal, and serious damage to the main or second home, or to professional premises owned or rented, that forces the buyer to stay put.
Getting there
Vehicle breakdown or accident, delays on public transport, or theft of documents or luggage before setting off. And if the only companion is the one who cannot go for one of these reasons, that counts too.
What is usually excluded
Simply changing your mind, losing the ticket or having it stolen, and cancellation of the event by the organiser β that is not on the insured. Policies also tend to require the event to be held in Spain and notice before it starts.
Who covers what
This list describes what the market offers today, not cover provided by FuturaTickets: what is covered, the limits and the exclusions are set by your policy. FuturaTickets is neither an insurer nor an insurance intermediary β it carries your policy to the checkout and records who took it out.
Your event insurance stops being a PDF nobody opens.
One more revenue line and one less refund
A share of the refunds you argue over every month are people who genuinely could not make it: an emergency, an illness, an exam. If that person could insure their ticket at the point of buying, the claim goes to their insurer instead of to your support team, and you keep the sale. And the cover itself is margin on a ticket you had already sold.
It rides along with the ticket, not beside it
Offered where people buy, recorded where you charge.
What you ask us about insurance
Is FuturaTickets the insurer?+
No. We are neither an insurer nor an insurance intermediary. The policy is the one you take out with your insurer; we put it in the checkout and record who took it out.
Who decides the cover and the price?+
The cover, your policy. The price at which an insured ticket is offered is set by you when you configure it.
Is it only for cancellation cover?+
No. You can also register the event's public liability or other policies, with their documents. The difference is that only cancellation cover can be offered to the buyer at checkout.
Can one policy cover a whole tour?+
Yes. When you register the insurance you choose which events it applies to: one, a tour or the entire season.
Is the insurance included in the price or does the buyer choose?+
You decide when you configure it. It can be built into the ticket price, or appear as a yes/no option at checkout. Both are used in the market and they change take-up considerably.
Is there anything the buyer must be told beforehand?+
Yes, and it has to be shown before they buy: the product information document, the general terms and the privacy policy. These policies also tend to require the event to be held in Spain and the reason to be reported before it starts.
Where is it recorded that someone took it out?+
On the order itself, alongside the amount charged. That is why you can tell at any moment how many tickets for the event carry cover.
